Synopsis
This book is on sustainable tourism and hospitality. It explains key debates on green tourism and its influence on the environment. The book also highlights how aesthetic values need to be interwoven into the whole process of tourism planning and development to achieve sustainability without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The book also looks into rural and urban situations of tourism and explains how and why greening, responsibility and sustainability are centre-stage themes in Zimbabwe. Gender concerns in tourism were also covered in general and then specifically exploring women empowerment and its impact on green tourism. The book also highlights how far small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have adopted sustainable green tourism concepts in the operation of their businesses. Furthermore, the book discourses the foremost environmental impacts caused by tourism and hospitality operations and, finally, the role of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in promoting green tourism. The book brings different thoughts in which sustainability can be archived through human interaction with the environment using simple and manageable ways. It can be useful to all age groups including scholars, academics, tourism and hospitality people and any other individuals.

Author Biographies
Innocent Chirisa , Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University
Innocent Chirisa is a Full Professor of Environmental Planning, an aspect of Urban and Regional Planning. His research has focused on resilience, environmental systems dynamics with a proclivity to land use, housing, ecology, public health, water and energy. He holds a DPhil in Social Sciences from the University of Zimbabwe and a PhD from the University of the Free State. He also holds MSc and BSc in Urban and Regional Planning. Past Dean of FSBS UZ. Currently, a Research Fellow of the University of the Free State (SA) and PVC Academic Affairs at Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University. He has expertise in urban and regional planning, sustainable development, resource management, local development, built environment and transport and mobility. Abraham Matamanda, University of Free State
Abraham R Matamanda is an Urban and Regional Planner who has also been trained as a social ecologist. Abraham currently lectures in the Department of Geography, University of Free State. His research focus on urban governance and planning, climate change adaptation, informal urbanism in the Global South, urban food systems and medical geography. Abraham is currently the editor of the Town and Regional Planning Journal Published with the University of the Free State. In 2022, he co-authored a book titled Housing and Technology: a special focus on Zimbabwe (https://doi.org/10.1007/978-3-031-09098-1) published with Springer Nature.
Tinashe Magande, University of Zimbabwe
Tinashe Magande is an economic expert who holds a Masters in Economics from the University of Zimbabwe He has a BSc in Economics from the University of Zimbabwe. Currently, Tinashe is a freelance researcher, and an economic consultant. Alice Zinyemba, University of Zimbabwe
Alice Zinyemba is an Organisational Development and Management specialist. She studied at the University of Alberta in Canada and holds an MBA and a PhD degree in Commerce from the University of Zimbabwe. She has special interest in gender studies and SMEs management. Alice is currently a part time senior lecturer in the Department of Business Enterprise and Management at the University of Zimbabwe. She also teaches Corporate and SME governance on the E4 Impact MBA programme at the Catholic University of Zimbabwe.
Vitalis, Manicaland State University
Vitalis Basera is a lecturer at Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences in Zimbabwe and founding chairperson of the department of Tourism and Hospitality Management. Before he worked as a manager and lecturer at Chinhoyi University of Technology. Currently he is the President of Tourism Educators and Researchers Association of Zimbabwe (TERAZ) and National Programmes Coordinator of Zimbabwe Youth in Tourism. A holder of Bachelor of Science in Tourism and Hospitality Management from University of Zimbabwe and a holder of Master of Commerce Degree in Tourism and Hospitality from University of Zimbabwe and a holder of Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management from Bindura University of Science Education. His research path is in mountain tourism, ecotourism, tourism and poverty (rural tourism), service quality, online tourism marketing.
Shepherd Nyaruwata, University of Zimbabwe
Shepherd Nyaruwata is a Senior Lecturer in tourism at the University of Zimbabwe. He obtained his PhD. from the University of Zimbabwe, a Master of Science in Tourism from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland, a BA. Honours degree in Geography from Oxford University in England and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Oxford University. He is also a holder of Diploma in Tourism Integrated Planning from the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) in Madrid, Spain and A Certificate in Research Methods from the University of Zimbabwe. Dr, Nyaruwata has published 22 journal articles in referred journals and 15 book chapters covering tour operations, impact of ICTs on tour operations management, community-based tourism, biodiversity and tourism and tourism planning and development. He is the author of two books on tourism and a co-editor of a tourism book on Zimbabwe.
Rudorwashe Baipai, Manicaland State University
Rudorwashe Baipai is an agritourism expert who holds a PhD in sustainable agritourism from the Chinhoyi University of Technology. She has BCom and MCom degrees in Tourism and Hospitality Management from Midlands State University (Zimbabwe). Currently Rudorwashe is a Lecturer in the Department of Tourism and Hospitality at the Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences in Zimbabwe. Her research interests are agritourism, rural development and sustainability.

Steven Sena is an entrepreneur and small businesses expert and consultant, a strategist par excellence who holds a PhD in Commerce (Business Management) from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (RSA), MSc Strategic Management from Chinhoyi University of Technology (Zim), MSc Entrepreneurship and Innovation from Bindura University of Science (Zim) Education, MSc Leadership and Corporate Governance from Bindura University of Science Education (Zim) BA Media Studies from Zimbabwe Open University. Currently Steven is a senior lecturer with the University of Zimbabwe in the department of Businesses Enterprise and Director of Academic Studies at the Zimbabwe Staff College. Teurai Matekenya, University of Zimbabwe
Teurai Matekenya holds a Master‘s degree in Information Technology with University of Pretoria and a Master‘s degree in Business Administration with the University of Zimbabwe and is a PhD candidate at Cape Peninsula University of Technology. Teurai is currently a lecturer in the Department of Analytics and Informatics at the University of Zimbabwe. She teaches Knowledge Management with a kin interest in databases and warehousing, data mining, business intelligence and innovation management. Her broad area of research interest is ICT4D focusing on Digital Transformation and Knowledge Management.
Fungai Nora Mukora, University of Zimbabwe
Fungai Nora Mukora holds a Master of Science Degree in Computer Science and a PhD Candidate at the University of Zimbabwe. Fungai teaches Hardware Engineering, with a keen interest in Logic Design and Circuits, Number Systems and Digital Electronics. She is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Engineering Informatics and Communications at the University of Zimbabwe. Her research areas include Digital Transformation, ICT Adoption with emphasis on marginalized groups and communities.
Thomas Karakadzai, University of Zimbabwe
Thomas Karakadzai is a rural and urban planner who holds a MSc and BSc in Rural and Urban Planning from the University of Zimbabwe. Currently Thomas is a Lead Resilience Projects Officer at Dialogue on Shelter for the Homeless Trust an affiliate of Slum Dwellers International (SDI) working with informal settlements across Zimbabwe. His research interests include but are not limited to climate change, resilience, disaster management, environmental planning, Regional and Urban Planning, Human settlements, Community Participation, Governance and Policy.
